I haven’t done a solid wine recommendation newsletter in a while, so here’s one to kick off the spring/summer season. I’m filling this newsletter with a number of recommendations that I think would be great for the coming months: Light, fun, fresh, unserious but still sophisticated, food friendly, party friendly vinos that you’ll love.
Before I drop these recs, here are all the current locations carrying the new Mas Vino x Wonderwerk wines!
What I ate and drank:
I finalllyyy had dinner at Voodoo Vin last weekend! You know I love a chic, cozy wine bar with European selections and a candle lit atmosphere. This was that and more! Their current menu is homestyle Persian comfort food. The menu is petit but has everything you need: stews, tahdig, stuffed tomatoes and the most divine Persian ice cream sandwich that struck a note so deep in my memory, I can’t even pinpoint exactly what it is. Food memories are crazy like that. (But I know this memory was stored back 2009. Don’t ask me how).
Our wine that evening: Brain de Folie by Domaine du Mortier (Loire Valley) — carbonic red: cab franc and grolleau. Light and slightly spiced, with lots of sour cherry and red fruits. Serve chilled!

Garden Wines!
I really love drinking wine in gardens. I want to be surrounded by my plants, a little sunshine, a wooden table, birds chirping, a neighborhood cat snoozing in the sun (because mine are indoor only), and a few bottles of wine opened while I enjoy the chatter and soft music with friends. Here are wines that would fit this scenario perfectly:

Most Unique Wine In A While
Cloud Hidden by Wavy Wines: I’ve had this wine a number of times (from previous vintages) but this particular year and bottle was so beautifully delicate I stopped the conversation to let my friends know: THIS WINE TASTES LIKE CELERY JUICE! EVERYONE TRY THIS RIGHT NOW!** It reminded me of fresh pressed celery juice, a rare yet beautiful treat! Also a fabulous garden wine option.
**It’s rare that you find a bottle so prominently vegetal and fresh (especially a white or orange wine), so you must proclaim these notes to the group lolz.
Mas Eventos
