Summertime Mas Vino Hang Outs & Some Wine I Can't Stop Thinking About
A few more chances to hang out this summer!
Okay, Bunz & Vino was a blast! I haven’t had a chance to come on here and thank y’all who came out and supported our event. It was truly a magical (and hot!) afternoon of dancing in the street, grilling hot dogs and arepas and making friends—a proper Block Party! So many of you came out to celebrate Latinidad and enjoy some wine and it filled my lil heart to see so many strangers come together and be in community, making new connections. This is what Mas Vino is all about, so THANK YOU. I love it so much. (Oh yeah, and we SOLD OUT of all the wine and refajo. Y’all came thirsty!)
If you missed the last event, fear not! There are plenty more chances to hangout and drink some wine together this summer! In fact, I’ll be taking over the wine counter at Hi Lo tomorrow in Culver City and Friday in Long Beach, so come by for a summer wine flight!
Thursday 8/10 5-8pm: Culver City with Perlitas Oysters & 3 delicious seaside-esque wines selected by me!
Friday 8/11 5-8pm: Long Beach with Eat Your Wave smash burgers & 3 burger ready vinos by me :)
Next week, I’ll be back at my friends’ IlCaffe in DTLA on 8/17 co-hosting a very special evening—Sicilian Summer— with my dear friend and badass chef, Chris Superette! Chris will be sharing some of her mama’s special dishes and I’ll be pouring plenty of Sicilian wine, available by the glass and the bottle! (Follow us on Instagram for more details on that later this week !)
And lastly, before I sign off!! I HAVE TO SHARE this wine with you. It’s been living in my mind for the last week! It’s the last wine I drank before I got dreadfully ill this weekend (we’re on the mend though!) but it was so incredibly delicious I had fever dreams about it. A distinguished, clean, and elegant Alsatian Pinot Noir, with multiple layers of smoke and fruity bramble and mushroom. Perfect for grilled foods—medium weight, definitely worth sitting with and sharing with someone you love.
The Bechtold Gewurtztraminer is also one to try! Like craft honey in a glass. It's sweet, but crazy balanced with Sauternes-like acidity and absolutely delicious.
